I have worked as a learning support and emotional learning support assistant in a secondary school for seventeen years. This role has enabled me to spend quality time with pupils in and out of the classroom. I had not realised how important the role of listener was until I was asked had I thought about becoming a counsellor. I started my training in September 2006 on a ten week introductory course in counselling concepts. I enjoyed the whole experience and applied for the level 3 counselling skills. Not only did I discover new things about myself, I also met wonderful people who will be firm friends forever. From 2007 to 2009, I completed my Foundation Degree in Humanistic counselling based on Transactional Analysis. In September 2011, I felt my learning was not yet over and applied for my BA. In February 2013 I was awarded my BA in Humanistic Transactional Analysis.
As part of my training with adults I have thoroughly enjoyed working in a GP practice and a local charity for people who experience, or are affected by mental health distress. I have worked with a variety of issues in short and long term therapy.
